It is also hoped that a greater understanding and inclusivity in the wider community will develop as a result. Currently there are 9 teams across the province with players ranging from 7 to 55 years old, all of whom have a wide range of special needs. The clubs meet at regular intervals during the rugby season to play matches against one another and some have even toured to England and ROI to take part in international festivals.
Coaches in each of the clubs have benefited from specialist disability inclusion training and the Ulster Disability Advisory Group (DAG) is on hand to offer advice and assistance to clubs wishing to start up their own disability section.
