During the first half Saracens kept Ulster penned for long periods and Ulster entered the break 7 - 3 down, a David Humphrey's penalty on 25 minutes the only answer to Glen Jackson's own 14th minute converted try, gifted by the home side.
With both fly-halfs exchanging penalties in the second-half, Saracens still held the lead past the hour mark. However, as the crowd roarded their team on for the win, Ulster upped the tempo, forcing errors from the visitors. First of all centre Thomas Castaignede was sent to the bin following a delibrate knock-on and then replacement hooker Matt Cairns joined him when he was found off-side on 77 minutes. Humphreys converted both penalties to put Ulster head for the first time in the match, Ulster 12 - 10 Saracens.
A Rory Best try on 80 minutes wrapped by the victory for Ulster, much to the delight of the capacity crowd at Ravenhill and Humphreys slotted over the conversion to make the final score Ulster 19 - 10 Saracens.
